In his meeting with France and Italy, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan discussed co-production of Eurosam missiles. Mevlut Cavusoglu, the Turkish Foreign Minister, said the discussion took place alongside the NATO meeting in Brussels. Erdogan met with French President, Emmanuel Macron and Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi and the main issue that they discussed was the Eurosam SAMP/T system and the defense system, Cavusoglu remarked.
Eurosam is a joint venture between French and Italian companies. It was about eight years ago that the Turkish government signed a letter of intent with Eurosam, but nothing has been done since then. Cavusoglu says that to make air defense systems in Turkiye, both countries would like to collaborate on making them so that they can be exported to Turkey.
