SOCAR, an Azerbaijani company, is awarded a contract by Iraq’s oil ministry to provide drilling and oil services. Basim Abdel Karim, the company’s general manager, noted in a statement that the contract includes drilling and reclaiming oil wells, noting that the contract is for three years, but may be extended.With the signing of partnership agreements with international companies such as Halliburton, Weatherford and Schlumberger, Iraqi Drilling Company expanded its scope of work and accelerated its implementation of projects as well as benefitting from the implication of modern technology and systems within its operations.

Turkey has reopened the Bosphorus, or Istanbul Strait, to ships after closing it briefly because of a suspected mine. Hulusi Akar, Turkish Minister of National Defense, said that underwater security teams examined the object and found that it was an old mine. A coordinated effort between the Turkish Coast Guard and Naval Forces enabled the safe reopening of maritime traffic, he announced.
